Crafty

We've been doing a little coloring in our home.

If anyone has good craft ideas, then please share. As you can see, I am not very original.

AC is a great color-er!!! Wow! Ok, you could have them make a Christmas wreath with their handprints. Just trace them on green construction paper, cut them out and have the kids glue them to a paper plate with the middle cut out. Or make reindeer out of their hands and feet. Trace a foot for the head and two hands for the antlers. Or find a snowman picture on the internet and have them glue cotton balls onto it. I bet your library has some cute Christmas craft books. I checked three out from ours the other day to get ideas for a christmas party.

I did this with my students and realized it would have worked MUCH better on a smaller scale.

We made baby food jar snow globes.

1)Clean large baby food jars and set them to dry completely.
2)Glue (with a heavy duty glue) a piece of 1/2 inch piece of cork to the lid.
3)Glue an ornament/small toy onto the cork. (the cork gives it height so you can see the whole ornament)
4) Let the cork and toy dry completely before moving on to the next step. Depending on amount and type of glue maybe over night.
5)Fill the jar with festive confetti and glitter.
6)Fill the jar with mineral oil. (I had no idea this was laxative before searching for this at Michael's!!... get it at CVS)-- Make sure you give enough room to put the toy in so the mineral oil doesn't spill out.
7)Spread glue around the rim of the jar.
8)Screw on lid and let dry.

You can add ribbon to the base and use glass paint to decorate the outside of the jar as well.

Hope this helps :)
